Obituary of Nicanora R. Niaves

Nicanora R. Niaves, 87, of Muscatine, died Friday, July 1, 2005, at Unity Hospital. Funeral service and visitation will be at the Heritage Funeral Home in Brady, Texas. Burial will be in Resthaven Cemetery, Brady, Texas. Memorials to the family may be sent to David Niaves, Muscatine. Mrs. Niaves was born on January 10, 1918, in Aguajita Coah, Mexico, the daughter of Juan and Concepcion Rodriquez Ledezma. She married Jose Niaves Sr. on September 12, 1945, in Brady, Texas. She was a member of the Guadelupe Mission and was a Guadelupanna. She worked for the Bartenhagen farm and Pioneer for many years where she did various seasonal harvesting jobs. She enjoyed her grandchildren, animals, gardening, canning and dancing. She became an American citizen on October 19, 1998. Survivors include three sons, Joe Niaves of Muscatine, Henry Niaves and wife, Rosalinda, of Brady, Texas, and David Niaves and wife, Ema, of Muscatine; one daughter, Mary Susanna Niaves and friend, Bill Caparoon of Waukegan, Wisconsin; eight grandchildren, Monica O�Brien of Chicago, Illinois, Gerienna Weikert of Muscatine, Henry J. Niaves, of Huston, Texas, Juan Niaves of Brooklyn, Wisconsin, Paula Niaves of Muscatine, Christina Gonzales of Monroe, Wisconsin, Julie Niaves, and Amber Niaves both of Muscatine; 20 great-grandchildren; one brother, Julio Ledezma of San Angelo, Texas; two sisters, Juanita Huro of Brady, Texas, and Maria Ledezma of Dallas, Texas; and a special nephew, Paul Chavez of Florida. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one grandson, five brothers, and two sisters.
