Obituary of Elmer Truitt

Elmer "Bud� Truitt, Jr., 79, of Muscatine died Monday, July 4, 2005 at the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City. Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, July 7, 2005 at the Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services. Rev. Lloyd Mansfield will officiate. Casketbearers will be Steven Truitt, Larry Truitt, Timothy Truitt, Steven Truitt, Jr., Alex Gries and Roman Truitt. Burial will be in Muscatine Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation for Elmer will be held on Wednesday, July 6, 2005 from 4:00 P.M. - 7:00 P.M. at the Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services. A memorial has been established at the funeral home in Elmer�s name. Sympathy notes may be left for the Truitt family at www.lewisfuneralhomes.com. Elmer Edward Truitt, Jr. was born on July 9, 1925 in Muscatine, Iowa the son of Elmer E. and Gladys Z. (Barton) Truitt. Elmer served with the U.S. Navy during WWII from 1943 - 1944. On January 20, 1945, Elmer was united in marriage to Annabelle Ackman in Muscatine. Elmer was employed at HON for 31 years. He enjoyed Blue Grass music, camping, playing pool, hunting and watching wrestling with his grandchildren. Elmer will be deeply missed by his three sons, Steven Truitt and his wife, Terri, Larry Truitt and his wife, Lisa and Timothy Truitt, all of Muscatine; six grandchildren, Steven Truitt, Jr., Tristan Gries, Miranda Truitt, Alex Gries, Quinten Truitt and Roman Truitt and one half brother, Darrell Wiegand and his wife, Phyllis of Walcott. Elmer was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Annabelle on March 8, 2002, one sister, Velma Sietz and two half brothers, Charles Wiegand and Ellis Wiegand.
