Obituary of Ruth Ann Overton

Ruth Ann Overton 63, of Muscatine, died Wednesday, July 6, 2005 at her home in Illinois City, Illinois. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 9, 2005 at the Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Funeral Home. Pastor John Brown of the Fruitland Baptist Church will officiate. Casket bearers will be Shannon Overton, Aaron Calvert, Brandon Kraklio, Jeremy VanAuken, Travis Kraklio, Adam Calvert, Trey Harris, Rob Allison, and Matt Tharp. Honorary casketbearers will be Amber Allison, Birqeetta VanAuken, Amanda Kraklio, Kayla Overton, Ashley Overton, Autumn Calvert, Kaitlyn Harris, Brooklyn Harris, Ali Overton, Grace Tharp, Sean Overton, Kate Overton and Kyle Overton. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Following the service at the cemetery, a time of food and fellowship will be held in the Community Room at the Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Funeral Home. Visitation for Ruth will be held on Friday, July 8, 2005 from 3:00 - 8:00 pm at the funeral home. A memorial has been established at the funeral home in Ruth�s name. Ruth Ann Curry was born on November 9, 1941 in Muscatine, Iowa the daughter of Mervin and Helen Fuller Curry. On April 11, 1960, Ruth was united in marriage to Charles Overton in Muscatine, Iowa. Ruth was employed at the Muscatine General Hospital as an environmental service aide. Ruth enjoyed talking with people and caring for the elderly, but most of all spending time with her children and grandchildren and her special friend, Joyce Villhauer of Muscatine. Ruth will be deeply missed by son, Morrill "Bub� Overton and his wife, Becky of Conesville; three daughters, Tammy Calvert and her husband, Chuck of Illinois City, Helen Matthews and her husband, Art of New Boston, and Paula Harris and her husband, Doug of Wilton; three step-sons, Jack Overton and his wife, Donna of Hazleton, PA, Rick Overton and his wife, Julie of Durant, Roger Overton and his wife, Rita of Iowa City; one step-daughter, Glenda Kraklio and her husband, Steve of Wilton; two brothers, David Curry and his special friend, Sandy, Craig Curry both of Muscatine; one daughter-in-law, Charla Podany and her husband, Jim of Muscatine and 21 grandchildren and one great-grandaughter. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one grandson, Cole Harris and one sister, Joyce Freitag.
