Obituary of Robert Westlake

Robert Westlake, age 89, of Conesville, Iowa, died Thursday, July 7, 2005 at Lone Tree Health Care Center, Iowa. Funeral services for Robert will be Monday, July 11, 2005 at 10:00am at the Stacy-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services in Columbus Junction, Iowa. Rev. Cathy Whitlatch of the Columbus Junction United Methodist Church will officiate. Casketbearers will be Brian Westlake, Brent Westlake, Wayne Westlake, Gary Swanson, James Locke and Robert Locke. Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 10th at the Stacy-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services from 4-7 pm. Memorials may be directed to the Iowa City Hospice in Robert�s name. Burial will be in the Conesville Cemetery. Sympathy notes may be left to the Westlake family at www.lewisfuneralhomes.com. Robert was born December 3, 1915 in Conesville, IA, the son of Frank and Verda (Maxwell) Westlake. On October 15, 1984 Robert was united in marriage to Catherine Schabilion Locke in Memphis, MO. Robert was a farmer all of his life in the Nichols area. He was a past member of the Order of the Odd Fellows, and he enjoyed gardening, fishing, playing bingo, playing cards and woodworking. He was also an avid Cubs fan and looked forward to wintering in Arizona. Robert will be dearly missed by his wife, Catherine Westlake of Conesville; two step-sons, James Locke and his wife, Phyl of Manchester, IA and Robert Locke and his wife, Perrian of Wapello; 6 grandsons, Matthew, Steven, Aaron, Nicholas, Jordan and Spencer; two great grandchildren, Ryan and Alex; his brother, Wayne Westlake and wife, Jo Anna of Conesville; his sister, Gertrude I. Swanson of Iowa City; 3 nephews, Gary Swanson of Lone Tree, Brian Westlake and Brent Westlake, both of Conesville; 6 nieces, Lori Roller of Berryville, AR, Carolyn Stahmer of Iowa City, Janice Salm of North Liberty, Cheryl Schnoebelen of Iowa City, Colene Guthrie of Iowa City and Nancy Swanson of Lone Tree; many great nieces and nephews; Robert was preceded in death by his parents.
