Obituary of Filberto Valenzuela

Filberto Valenzuela Sr., 79, of Wilton, died Wednesday, July 13, 2005, at the Muscatine Care Center. Funeral Mass will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, July 15, 2005, at St Mary Church, 417 Green Street. Father Troy Richmond of Our Lady Of Guadalupe Mission will officiate the service. Honorary bearer will be Elias Valenzuela. Casket bearers will be Jeffery Valenzuela III, Ramon Valenzuela, Amado Cavazos III, Israel Ray Vasquez, Ruben Valenzuela Jr., Jorge Luis Ramos, Michael Valenzuela, and Joe Valenzuela Jr. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation for friends will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday, July 14, 2005, at the Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home with a Rosary Prayer Service to be prayed at 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. There will be visitation Friday 1 p.m. until service time at the church. Filberto was born on June 10, 1926, in Asherton, Texas, the son of Franco and Marcelina Ramon Valenzuela. He married Juanita Ruiz May 27, 1942, in Cotulla, Texas. Filberto was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Mission. His hobby was woodworking with crafts. He had worked at Bandag. Filberto is survived by his wife Juanita Valenzuela of Wilton; six sons Juan Valenzuela and wife Estella of Davenport, Filberto Valenzuela Jr. of Muscatine, Gonzalo Valenzuela of Muscatine, Ruben Valenzuela and wife Elsa of Muscatine, Jose F. Valenzuela and wife Debbie of Muscatine, and Jesus Valenzuela and wife Anita of Muscatine; three daughters Enriqueta Cavazos and husband Amado of Muscatine, Anita Valenzuela of Muscatine, Alicia Valenzuela Ramos of Muscatine; 28 grandchildren; 39 great grandchildren; one brother Adolfo Valenzuela of San Antonio, Texas; and three sisters Marta Garcia of Fresno, California, Delia Ruiz of Asherton, Texas, and Lydia Castro of Dallas, Texas. Filberto was preceded in death by his parents, and two sisters Luisa Pena Dallas, Texas, and Ernestina Vergara of Asherton, Texas.
