Obituary of Rosetta Mae Burke
Rosetta Mae Burke, 76, of Muscatine, died Friday, July 15, 2005, at the Meadowlawn Nursing Home in Davenport, Iowa. Graveside services will be Monday, July 18, 2005 at 10:00 a.m. at Muscatine Memorial Park Cemetery. Larry Hill of the Church of God will officiate. Casketbearers will be Brian Willits, Ted Tolberg, Kenny Richards, Carl Yerington, Brison Willits and Tim Cox. Burial will be at Muscatine Memorial Park Cemetery. Following the interment, a time of food and fellowship will be held at Foursquare Gospel Church. Visitation for Rosetta will be held on Sunday, July 17, 2005 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Funeral Home. A memorial has been established at the funeral home in Rosetta�s name. Sympathy notes may be left for the Burke family at www.lewisfuneralhomes.com. The Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Home for Funeral & Cremation Services is caring for Rosetta�s family and her service.
Rosetta Mae Thurston Burke was born October 16, 1928, in Iowa City, Iowa the daughter of Adam and Pearl Karns Thurston . On April 17, 1949 Rosetta was united in marriage to Raymond Burke, Jr. in Muscatine, Iowa, they later divorced. Rosetta was a 40 year member of the Foursquare Gospel Church in Muscatine and was a wonderful mother and devoted grandmother to Nicole and Brison. She enjoyed the Chicago Cubs.
Rosetta will be deeply missed by her daughter, Susan Willits and her husband Brian; a son Brian Burke; two grandchildren, Nicole and Brison Willits all of Muscatine; three brothers, Sanford Thurston of Amarillo, Texas, James Leitzman of Minneapolis, Minnesota and Edgar Kublik of Wilton, Iowa; three sisters, Leota Pulliam of Muscatine, Iowa, Lois Marolf of Moscow, Iowa and Charlotte Hess of Dewitt, Iowa; several nieces and nephews and special friends, Valli Lewis and Chris Berry.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and eight brothers and sisters.
