Obituary of Leland D. Swafford

Leland D. Swafford , 83, of Muscatine, died Sunday, July 24, 2005, at the Muscatine Care Center. Reverend Don Swanson of the First Baptist Church will officiate. Leland was born on August 28, 1921, in Burlington, IA, the son of Albert and Wilma Loper Swafford. He married Virginia Freers on February 22, 1944, in Modesto, CA. She preceded him on December 22, 2000. He was a member of the Oakville United Methodist Church, the Moose Lodge #388, and the American Legion in Oakville. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the US Navy. He had worked as a rural mail carrier for 34 years. Survivors include three sons, Larry L. Swafford and wife Linda, of Spring Hill, FL, Marvin L. Swafford and wife Kathy, of Bettendorf, Iowa, and Jeffrey A. Swafford, of Chester, IL; six grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his wife.
