Obituary of Emma Salazar

Emma Menchaca Salazar, 76, of Columbus City, died Saturday, July 30, 2005 at her home in Columbus City. A Celebration of Emma's life will be 10:00 A.M. on Tuesday, August 2, 2005 at the Stacy-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services in Columbus Junction. Pastor James Cluney and Pastor Mike McAfee will officiate the services. Burial will be held at the Columbus City Cemetery. Casketbearers will be Todd Salazar, Tim Salazar, Tomas L. Salazar, Jose Munoz, Jr., David Delao and Raul Perez, Jr. Honorary casketbearers will be Sean Salazar, Jose Munoz, Sr., Raul Perez, Sr., Dick Kracaw, Davin Lingren and Rod Montoya. Following services at the cemetery, a time of food and fellowship will be held at the Columbus Junction American Legion. Visitation for Emma will be held on Monday, August 1, 2005 from 4:00 P.M. - 8:00 P.M. at the Stacy-Lewis Funeral Home. Memorial may be directed to the First Assembly of God in Washington in memory of Emma. Sympathy notes may be left for the Salazar family at www.lewisfuneralhomes.com. Emma Menchaca was born March 28, 1929 Cd Acuna, Mexico the daughter of Pedro and Lusiana (Olgin) Manchaca. On May 6, 1947 Emma was united in marriage to Tomas Salazar in Cd Acuna, Mexico. Emma was a homemaker. She was a member of the First Assembly of God in Washington and was a past member of the Fredonia Independent Gospel Church where she was very active. Emma enjoyed family gatherings and fishing. Emma will be deeply missed by her husband, Tomas of Columbus City; three sons, Roger Salazar and his wife, Laurie of Columbus Junction, Tomas M. Salazar and his wife, Carla of Columbus City and Abel Salazar and his wife, Karen of Columbus Junction; three daughters, Yolanda Munoz and her husband, Jose of Fort Madison, Lety Perez and her husband, Raul of Columbus Junction and Margie Delao and her husband, David of Columbus City; fourteen grandchildren; eighteen great grandchildren; four brothers, Pedro Menchaca and his wife, Rosa of Del Rio, Texas, Chon Menchaca and his wife, Lola of Eagle Pass, Texas, Angel Menchaca of Cd Acuna, Mexico and Reynaldo Menchaca and his wife, Estella of Cd Acuna, Mexico and one sister, Otila Gallegos and her husband, Hector of Del Rio, Texas. Emma was preceded in death by her parents, one great grandson, Josiah David Lingren, one great granddaughter, Halley Munoz and two brothers, Julian and Jose Luis.
