Obituary of Arthur P. Vogel

Arthur P. Vogel, 87, of Davenport, died Monday, August 1, 2005, at the Kahl Home, Davenport, Iowa, following an extended illness. Reverend John P. Gallagher of Ss. Mary and Mathias Parish will officiate. Casket bearers will be his grandchildren, Becky Zaffuta, Joe Toomey, Dan Schimanski, Dean Schimanski, Charles Vogel, and Samantha Vogel. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery with military rites provided by the joint squads of the American Legion Post 27 and the VFW Post 1565. Memorials may be made to the Kahl Home in Davenport. Arthur was born on May 10, 1918, in Beloit, Wisconsin, the son of Frank and Regina Weissmann Vogel. He married Nell W. Cook July 4, 1942, in Pittsburgh, PA. Arthur was a veteran of World War II serving in the United States Army in the European Theater. Arthur was a member of Holy Family Parish in Davenport. He was also a member of the Quad Cities Pattern Maker�s Union. He was a Wood Pattern Maker for 44 years, completing his four year apprenticeship in 1941 and retiring in 1982. Arthur is survived by one son Joseph Vogel and wife Jennifer of Muscatine; three daughters, Barbara Toomey and husband Anthony "John� of Baden, Pennsylvania, Rogene "Genie� Schimanski and husband Paul of Bettendorf, and Joan Abarbanel and husband Peter of Apple Valley, Minnesota; six grandchildren, and five great grandchildren. Arthur was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Nell on January 22, 2002, two brothers, and one sister.
