Obituary of Ruth E. Dircks

Ruth E. Dircks, 88, of Columbus Junction died Saturday, August 13, 2005 at the Colonial Manor Care Center in Columbus Junction. Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M. on Wednesday, August 17, 2005 at the Stacy-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services in Columbus Junction. Rev. Cathy Whitlatch will officiate. Burial will be in the Columbus City Cemetery. Following the committal services at the cemetery, a time of food and fellowship will be held at the Columbus Junction United Methodist Church. Visitation for Ruth will be held on Tuesday, August 16, 2005 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Stacy-Lewis Funeral Home in Columbus Junction. Memorials may be directed to the Columbus Junction United Methodist Church in memory of Ruth. Sympathy notes may be left for the Dircks family at www.lewisfuneralhomes.com. Ruth Evelyn Williams was born on October 25, 1916 in Columbus City, Iowa the daughter of Arthur M. and Edith M. (Allen) Williams. On April 28, 1934, Ruth was united in marriage to Ralph J. Dircks in Illinois. Ruth was a telephone operator during World War II. Ruth then worked for Dr. Elmer Groben as an office manager in Columbus Junction for 18 years and in Iowa City for 10 years. Ruth was a member of the Columbus Junction United Methodist Church, a 50 year member of the Eastern Star, Charter Member of the Cedar Crest Country Club, was a past president of the Business and Professional Women and was also a member of the Art Guild and the Moon Lighters Quartet. She enjoyed painting, which she won many awards, golfing and raising English Bulldogs. Ruth will be deeply missed by her daughter, Jacquelin G. Scott and her husband, James of Muscatine; two grandchildren; seven great grandchildren and two brothers-in-law, Delbert "Bud� Jordan of Dubuque and Joe Yarbrough of St. Louis, Missouri. Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Ralph on December 12, 1994, one granddaughter, Yvonne, two brothers, Harry "Ike� Williams and Frank Richard "Dick� Williams and two sisters, Shirley Yarbrough and Patricia Jordan.
