Obituary of Charles Daniel Lyons

Charles "Charlie� Daniel Lyons, 62, of Muscatine, lost a courageous battle with cancer on August 23, 2005, at Unity Hospital. Funeral Service will be 4 p.m. Saturday, August 27, 2005, at the Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home. Pastor Ray Carlew of the West Side Assembly of God Church in Davenport will officiate the services. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, August 27, 2005, at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the family in care of Jennifer Johnson. Charles also known as "Danny� to his friends and family in Glasgow, Kentucky, was born on August 17, 1943, in Glasgow, the son of Raymond C. and Martha Elizabeth Baldoch Lyons. He was a member of the Operating Engineers Local 150 since 1973, and was known as a true Kentucky Colonel. A pipe line brought him to Muscatine, where he met his sole mate, Jennifer Johnson whom he has been with for 25 years. His favorite past time was spending time on the river boats, he also owned and operated the corner game room and pool hall on Mulberry Avenue. He also owned several second hand stores in Muscatine. He loved his family gatherings, spending time with his nieces and nephews and had strong bonds with his dogs, Skippy and Tootsie. He will surly be missed by all who knew him and loved him, but we will be united again in Heaven. Survivors include his fianc�e, Jennifer Johnson of Muscatine; her family, including sisters Lois Horn and husband, Frank, of Des Moines and Jackie Brase and husband, Bernie, of Muscatine, brothers, Joe Johnson and wife, Roberta of South Dakota, Raymond Johnson and wife Linda, of Muscatine, Tom Johnson and wife, Koralie, of Muscatine, Don Johnson and wife, Leslie, of Arkansas, and Richard Johnson of Red Oak; sister-in-laws, Janice Retherford of Muscatine, Shirley Retherford of California and Deloris Johnson of Davenport; one daughter, Regina Boston and husband, Bryant, of Glasgow, Kentucky; one son, Ricky Lyons of Glasgow, Kentucky; three grandchildren, Mallie and Matthew Boston and Daniel Lyons; one brother, Billy Lyons and wife, Lynn, of Bowling Green, Kentucky; one sister, Joyce Batson and husband, Jerry, of Louisville, Kentucky; and many nieces and nephews. He held a special place in his heart for niece, Jill Ann Hahn. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, parents, one sister, Margaret Wright and her husband, John, one uncle and many friends.
