Obituary of Frank E. Hollingsworth

Frank E. Hollingsworth, 77, of Muscatine, passed away Saturday, August 27, 2005, at Lutheran Homes. Memorial services will be Tuesday, August 30, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. at the Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services. Rev. James Trosen of Faith United Church of Christ will officiate. Inurnment will be in Muscatine Memorial Park Cemetery with Military Rites by the combined units of the VFW Post #1565 and the American Legion Post #27. Following the inurnment, a time of food and fellowship will be held in the Community Room at the Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Home for Funeral & Cremation Services. There will be no visitation. The family requests memorials be directed to Lutheran Homes or the Muscatine Humane Society. Sympathy notes may be left for the Hollingsworth family at www.lewisfuneralhomes.com. Frank Eugene Hollingsworth was born February 24, 1928 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Frank enlisted into the US Navy in 1945. He was assigned to the USS LCI 605 and then the USS Carbonero and became a 3rd class torpedoman. He was awarded the WWII American Area Campaign Medal, the Philippine Area Campaign Medal, the Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal, Good Conduct Medal and the China Service Medal. He was honorably discharged in 1949. On February 24, 1951, Frank was united in marriage to Pat L. McGlothlen in Muscatine, Iowa. Frank was a member of the Masonic Lodge for 53 years and became a 32nd degree mason. He was also a member of the American Legion. Frank was a motorcycle enthusiast and journeyed many miles riding with family and friends. He enjoyed photography, taking pictures of family, friends and pets. He also enjoyed traveling to many places with his wife, Pat. Frank was employed at Muscatine Power and Water for 16-years and Eastern Iowa Light and Power for 23-years. Frank will be deeply missed by his family; two sons, James Hollingsworth and his fianc�, Teresa Thomas of Cedar Rapids and Matthew Hollingsworth and his wife, Kathleen of rural Atalissa; two grandsons, Isaac Hollingsworth and his wife, Katherine of Wilton and SPC. Jacob Hollingsworth of Muscatine, who is currently stationed in AR Ramadi, Iraq with the National Guard 224th Engineering Battalion; Joyce Thomas of Muscatine; one grand-daughter, Nicole Rock and her husband Robbie of West Liberty; two great-grandchildren, Tyler and Lyvia Rock of West Liberty; two brothers-in law, Ross McGlothlen and his wife, Frances of Muscatine and Vern Curry of Muscatine. He is also survived by many cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Pat, one son Joe Hollingsworth and one grandson Dwight Hollingsworth. .
