Obituary of Dennis L. Menzer

Dennis L. Menzer, 63 of River Junction, rural Lone Tree, died Tuesday, September 6, 2005 at his home following an extended illness. Per Dennis� wishes, his body has been donated to the University of Iowa Department Deeded Body Program. Memorial service for Dennis will be 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, September 10, 2005 at the Sorden-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services in Lone Tree. Loren Yoder will officiate the services. Following services, a gathering will be held at the United Presbyterian Church in Lone Tree. There will be no visitation. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Lone Tree Fire and Rescue or the Amenity Hospice of Cedar Rapids in memory of Dennis. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.lewisfuneralhomes.com. Dennis LeRoy Menzer was born July 12, 1942 in Iowa City, the son of Vernon and Mary (Edwards) Menzer. Dennis was a 1960 graduate of Lone Tree High School. On May 14, 1966, Dennis was united in marriage to Jane Kelley in West Liberty. He worked for Owens Brush/Oral B for 20 years and then worked for Sears Automotive as a mechanic for 27 years, retiring in July of 2005. Dennis enjoyed working on cars, bowling, and collecting trains. Dennis will be deeply missed by his wife, Jane of River Junction; one son Neal Menzer of West Branch; two daughters, Jodi Fuentez and her husband, Dan of Grimes, Iowa and Shanda Menzer of Blue Springs, Missouri; three grandchildren, Connor, Mason, and Aaron Fuentez; his mother, Mary Menzer of Lone Tree and three brothers, Robert Menzer and his wife, Jennifor of Andover, Minnesota, Ronald Menzer of Jacksonville, Florida and Terry Menzer and his wife, Sandi of Jacksonville, Florida. Dennis was preceded in death by his father, Vernon Menzer on April 9, 1997.
