Obituary of Charles Wayne Drumm

Charles Wayne Drumm was born March 24, 1921 in Wilton, Iowa the son of Charles Benjamin and Lydia Hilda Schlapkohl Drumm. He graduated from Durant High School in 1939. Wayne was a World War II U.S. Army veteran serving in the Philippines and Japan in 1944 through 1946. After the war, Wayne attended the Chicago Industrial Training Institute. On April 11, 1948 Wayne was united in marriage to Pauline M. Fuller at the Cedar Christian Church in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He was a member of the First Christian Church serving as Elder and Chairman of the Board on numerous occasions and the Masonic Lodge #167 of Wilton. Before 1959 he was employed by the Iowa Electric in Cedar Rapids as Assistant Chief Engineer of Power Production. He joined Eastern Iowa REC in 1959 as a Results Engineer when the first unit of Fair Station was being built in Montpelier. In 1965 he was promoted to Plant Superintendent of the generating station and in 1978 he was named Division Manager of Power Production. He retired from Eastern Iowa Co-op in 1982. After retirement, he enjoyed woodworking and he volunteered in the Community doing work at Crossroads and delivering Meals on Wheels. Wayne will be deeply missed by his wife, Pauline; two sons, Charles A. Drumm and his wife, Jan of Muscatine, David W. Drumm and his wife, Denise of Vacaville, California; one daughter, Judy Rohwedder of Muscatine; one brother, Paul Drumm and his wife, Janet of Wilton; and four grandchildren, Jennifer Drumm, Susan Smith and her husband, Ryan, Kendra Rohwedder all of Muscatine and Matthew Rohwedder and his wife, Erica of Wilton. He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Benjamin Jay Drumm in infancy, one brother Roger Drumm and one sister, Judith Drumm.
