Obituary of Wallace F. Beason

Wallace F. Beason, Sr., 78, of Muscatine, died Sunday, October 2, 2005, at Unity Hospital in Muscatine. Funeral services will be Thursday, October 6, 2005 at 10:00 a.m. at the Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services. Pastor Brenda Booth of the First Christian Church will officiate. Casketbearers will be Darren Hartman, Matt Beason, Christopher Taylor, Brad Ziegenhorn, Wesley Cunningham, Katie Elsbury and Stephanie Ziegenhorn. Honorary Casketbearers will be Aaron Cunningham, Dustin Elsbury, Russell Taylor, Tamar Cunningham, Jerid Smith, Cynthia Taylor and Nichole Elsbury. Burial will be in Muscatine Memorial Park Cemetery. Following the interment, a time of food and fellowship will be held in the Community Room at the Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Home for Funeral & Cremation Services. Visitation for Wallace will be held on Wednesday, October 5, 2005 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Funeral Home. A memorial has been established at the funeral home in Wallace�s name. Sympathy notes may be left for the Beason family at www.lewisfuneralhomes.com. Wallace Finley Beason was born November 24, 1926 in New Boston, Illinois, the son of Alva W. and Nellie E. Shoemaker Beason. Wallace served in the United States Navy during WWII from 1944-1946. On July 27, 1946 Wallace was united in marriage to Arlene M. Blake in Iowa City, Iowa. Wallace was employed R. J. Dick for 30-years, following it�s closing, Wallace went to work for Farmland. He enjoyed fishing, family gatherings, puzzles, woodworking, playing horseshoes, tinkering and fixing things and especially his grandchildren. Wallace will be deeply missed by one son, Wallace F. Beason, Jr. and his wife, Susan of Muscatine; three daughters, Dorothy J. Roach and her husband Randy of Cedar Rapids, Doris K. Hartman and her husband Craig of Muscatine, and Helen Cunningham and her husband, Wesley of Illinois City; two brothers, Roy Beason of Muscatine and Alva Beason and his wife, Donna of Ankeny; four sisters, Nellie Sill and her husband, Dale of Texas, Minnie Montgomery of Grandview, Mary Schantz and her husband, Don of Ainsworth and Hilma Montgomery and her husband, Vic of Minnesota; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and his special friend, Maxine Stark of Muscatine. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife in 2001; two brothers; one sister and three grandchildren.
