Obituary of Robert Peppel

Robert Peppel, 74, of Muscatine, died Sunday, October 9, 2005, at his home in Muscatine. Funeral services will be Wednesday, October 12, 2005 at 10:00 a.m. at the Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services. Lloyd Mansfield, Minister, of the Church of Christ will officiate. Casketbearers are Denny Staley, Jason Staley, Jeff Staley, Tim Staley, Todd Staley and Tom Christner. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery. Following the interment, time of food and fellowship will be held at the Church of Christ. Visitation for Robert will be held on Tuesday, October 11, 2005 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Funeral Home. A memorial has been established at the funeral home in Robert�s name. Sympathy notes may be left for the Peppel family at www.lewisfuneralhomes.com. Robert Peppel was born on March 23, 1931 in Fonda, Iowa the son of George and Hazel Frances Woods Peppel. On June 2, 1956, Robert was united in marriage to Darlene M. Christner in Mt. Pleasant, Iowa. Robert was in construction at Local Union Hall for 38 years and later was employed at Keller Ladder and Letica for 11 years. He enjoyed fishing, playing cards and games with his family and friends. Robert will be deeply missed by one son, Robert Peppel, Jr. of Muscatine; two daughters, Rose Sterner and her husband, Charles of Muscatine and Shelby Lynn Bixby and her husband, Lonnie of Columbus Junction; two sisters, Marjorie Meixner of Muscatine and Joyce Reddick and her husband, Harlem of Woodhull, Illinois; 13 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Darlene on August 10, 2004, an infant son, Jerry Lane Peppel and three brothers and five sisters.
