Obituary of Alice Goddard Adams

A. "Maxine� Goddard Adams Alice "Maxine� Goddard Adams, 79 of Muscatine, died Tuesday, October 11, 2005 at Unity Hospital. Funeral services will be Friday, October 14, 2005 at 1:30 P.M. at the Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services. Pastor William Walker and Pastor David Overstreet will officiate the services. Casketbearers will be Gary Goddard, Dennis Goddard, David Mortice Goddard, Mike Adams, Ricky Adams, Roger Adams, Wayne French and Gary Riley. Honorary casketbearers will be Vickie French, Teresa Riley, Lori Adams, Sandi Adams, Matt Goddard, Chris Goddard, Pam Ralfs, Jason Riley, Joshua Riley and Jeremy Scherurs.. Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery. Following the interment, time of food and fellowship will be held at the Moose Lodge. Visitation for Maxine will be held on Thursday, October 13 , 2005 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services. A memorial has been established at the funeral home in Maxine�s name. Sympathy notes may be left for the Adams family at www.lewisfuneralhomes.com. Alice Maxine Mortice was born on May 19, 1926 in Newton, Iowa, the daughter of Harry E. and Jessie V. Field Mortice. On August 29, 1942, Alice was united in marriage to Arnoth W. Goddard in Princeton, Missouri. She later married Everett W. Adams on December 24, 1978 in Nashua, Iowa at the Little Brown Church. Maxine owned and managed several furniture stores across Iowa and Illinois and was later employed by Davenport and Rock Island Goodrich Tire Stores. Maxine was a member of the Glad Tidings Church, where she was Secretary and Treasurer and Registered agent, member of the Sunlighters Ladies of the church and a former member of the Women of the Moose. She enjoyed traveling, bowling, camping, crafts and sewing and was always staying busy with a project. Maxine will be deeply missed by her husband, Everett of Muscatine; three sons, Gary W. Goddard of Galesburg, Illinois, Dennis A. Goddard and David H. Mortice Goddard both of Davenport; three stepsons, Michael L. Adams of Davenport, Ricky E. Adams and his wife, Sandi of Muscatine and Roger R. Adams and his wife, Lori of Washington; two stepdaughters, Vicki L. French and her husband, Wayne and Teresa M. Riley and her husband, Gary both of Muscatine; one sister, Dorothy Couper and her husband, Jack of Loveland, Colorado; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; 10 step grandchildren and 6 step great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother and one sister.
