Obituary of Maynard H. Sexton

Maynard H. Sexton, 82, of Apache Junction, Arizona, formerly of Lone Tree died Wednesday, October 19, 2005 at Hospice of the Valley in Mesa, Arizona. Graveside memorial services will be held on Sunday, May 28, 2006 at 12:30 P.M. at the Lone Tree Cemetery. There will be no visitation. Following the committal services at the cemetery, a time of food and fellowship will be held at the Lone Tree American Legion Post 457. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Maynard Sexton memorial fund. Online condolences for the Sexton family may be sent to www.lewisfuneralhomes.com. The Sorden-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services is handling the arrangements for the Sexton family. Maynard Harry Sexton was born on February 26, 1923 in Knoxville, Tennessee, the son of Harry T. and Agnes E. Jensen Sexton. Maynard served with the United States Army during WW II from February 1943 - November 1945 attaining the rank of Buck Sgt. Maynard was a WW II P.O.W., captured in the Battle of the Bulge in 1944 and was liberated in 1945. On October 26, 1945, Maynard was united in marriage to Jean L. Westfall in Iowa City at her parent�s farm. Maynard worked for Proctor and Gamble as a maintenance manager. He was a sixty year member of the Lone Tree John L. Mumm American Legion Post 457, American Ex-POW Organization, Battle of the Bulge Organization, the 106th Infantry Organization and the East Valley Chapter of the American Ex-Prisoners of War. Maynard will be dearly missed by his wife, Jean of Apache Junction, Arizona; one son, Coyt M. Sexton and his wife, Bobbi, of Mesa, Arizona; two grandchildren; Angela M. Paturzo and her husband, Patrick of Mesa, Arizona and Benjamin D. Sexton and his wife, Tina of Gold Canyon, Arizona; two great-grandchildren, Anthony J. Paturzo and Zachary B. Paturzo; five brothers, George C. Sexton and his wife, Althea of Highland, California, John L. Sexton and his wife, Dorothy of Lone Tree, Lawrence H. Sexton and his wife, Marilyn of Downey, Robert T. Sexton of West Branch and Paul H. Sexton and his wife, Myrtle of West Branch; one sister, Laura M. Slach of West Branch; one sister-in-law, Rosemary Sexton of West Branch; and several nieces and nephews. Maynard was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Roscoe J. Sexton and Frank W. Sexton.
