Obituary of Raymond Elmer Rexroth

Raymond Elmer Rexroth, 84, of Muscatine, died Thursday, October 27, 2005, at the Wapello Nursing and Rehab Care Center. Funeral Service will be 2 p.m. on Saturday, October 29, 2005, at the Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home. Reverend Dennis Hakes of the Walnut Park Baptist Church will officiate the service. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. on Saturday, October 29, 2005, at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Raymond Rexroth Memorial Fund in care of Janet Stalkfleet. Raymond was born on April 27, 1921, in Muscatine County, the son of Harry and Rose Anna Koeppen Rexroth. He married Leona C. Hubbard at the Musserville Church on April 9, 1944. She preceded him in death on November 15, 1985. He farmed for the first part of his working career working also at Sturdevant Dairy, John Deere, and at Brossart-Lucas as an accomplished cabinet maker and a detail finish carpenter. He was a perfectionist in all that he did in life. He never gave up on anything until it was completed and done correctly. He loved his family above all else, especially taking great pride in his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was above all, a man of his word, kind, caring, loving and always thinking of others first, before himself. He loved the land, enjoyed mushroom and asparagus hunting, gardening, fishing, camping, deer hunting and traveling. He enjoyed telling about the farm life many years ago and of using teams of horses named Pat and Major and the teams of mules named Jiggs and Maggie Raymond is survived by one daughter, Janet Rae Stalkfleet and husband, Frank William, of Muscatine; two grandchildren, Mary A. Gray of Moscow and Michael William Stalkfleet and wife, Susan, of Muscatine; one great-grandson, Matt Thurston of Moscow; one great-granddaughter, Dana Renee Stalfkeet of Muscatine; one brother, Irving Rexroth and wife, Edna, of Muscatine; one sister, Shirley Garnes of Davenport; several nieces and nephews; two brothers-in-law, Clifford Fix of Braser, Missouri and Harold Hubbard and wife, Marion, of Bettendorf; one sister-in-law, Charlene Hubbard; and a special friend, Minnie Ewoldt, of Muscatine He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, one sister, Violette Mittman, brothers-in-law, Lavern Hubbard, Robert Mittman, Max Crumly and Robert Garnes, one nephew, Bobby Garnes and a special friend, Marge Edwards.
