Obituary of Hazon F. Loan

H. Francis Loan, 70, of rural Iowa City, died Sunday, October 30, 2005 at Mercy Medical Center in Dubuque, Iowa. Mass of the Resurrection for Francis will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Wednesday, November 2, 2005 at the St. Mary�s Catholic Church in Lone Tree. Rev. Vitalis Torwel will officiate, assisted by Parish Life Coordinator Carol Kaalberg. Burial will be in the Lone Tree Cemetery. Casketbearers will be Neil Forbes, Jim Simon, Mark Dembinski, Bill Loan, Rick Loan and Blair Lincoln. Honorary Casketbearer will be Jerry Seydel. Following the committal services at the cemetery, a time of food and fellowship will be held at the American Legion Hall in Lone Tree. Visitation for Francis will be held on Tuesday, November 1st, from 4:00 P.M. - 8:00 P.M. with a Rosary Prayer Service at 7:00 P.M. at the Sorden-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services in Lone Tree. Hazen Francis Loan was born February 27, 1935 in Iowa City, Iowa the son of Hazen A. and Irene (Dembinski) Loan. On May 3, 1958 Francis was united in marriage to Lura I. Simon at St. Mary�s Catholic Church in Riverside, IA. Francis was a farmer all his life in the Lone Tree area. He was a member of St. Mary�s Catholic Church of Lone Tree and a past president of the Johnson County Cattlemen�s Association. In later years, Francis enjoyed attending activities of his children and grandchildren. Francis will be deeply missed by his wife, Lura of Iowa City; his 3 sons, Bruce A. Loan and his wife, Lynn and their children, Monica, Allison, Timothy and Natalie of Iowa City, James F. Loan and his wife, Mary and their children, Melissa, Hannah and Alena also of Iowa City, and Andrew Hazen Loan and his wife, Holly and their children, Hazen and Alexis of Elkader, IA; his daughter, Coleen M. Lincoln and her husband, Jeffrey and their children, Danielle, Amanda, Blair and Jacquelyn of Colesburg, IA; his brother, Patrick Loan and his wife Betty of Oxford, IA; and his sister, Betty. Francis was preceded in death by his parents.
