Obituary of Edward Frank Jondle

Edward Frank Jondle, 87, of Muscatine, formerly of Iowa City, died Saturday, November 5, 2005 at his home in Muscatine. Funeral services will be Wednesday, November 9, 2005 at 9:30 A.M. at the Walnut Park Baptist Church in Muscatine. Pastor Dennis Hakes will officiate. Casketbearers will be Brian Jondle, Brett Jondle, Robert Lindley, Nathan Jondle, Mike Thoma and Mike Jondle. Honorary casketbearers will be Hylan Phillips, Woodrow Meyer, Gary Meyers, Albert Terhune and Gordon Wilkinson. Burial will be in the Memory Gardens Cemetery in Iowa City. Following the committal service, a time of food and fellowship will be held at the Walnut Park Baptist Church in Muscatine. Visitation for Edward will be held on Tuesday, November 8, 2005 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Funeral Home in Muscatine. Memorials may be directed to the Walnut Park Baptist Church or Unity Hospice in memory of Edward. Sympathy notes may be left for the Jondle family at www.lewisfuneralhomes.com. The Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Home for Funeral & Cremation Services is caring for Edward�s family and his services. Edward Jondle was born on January 30, 1918, in Fort Dodge, Iowa the son of John and Emma (Hotz) Jondle. Edward was a 1936 graduate of Lone Tree High School. He was united in marriage to Maxine Schaefer, who preceded him in death in February of 1962. He later married Helen Meyer on September 17, 1977 in Muscatine, Iowa. Edward farmed for several years in the Lone Tree and Oakdale area and worked at Wilson Meat Packing Plant. He also worked at Quaker Oats and later was self employed as a roofing and siding contractor in the Iowa City and Muscatine area. Edward was a member of the Walnut Park Baptist Church in Muscatine. Edward enjoyed traveling, reading and spending time with his family. Edward will be deeply missed by his wife, Helen of Muscatine; three sons, Gary Jondle and his wife, Carol, of Iowa City, Richard Jondle and his wife, Donna, of Oakdale and Larry Jondle and his wife, Dolly, of Brush, Colorado; four step-children, Woodrow Meyer and his wife, Toby, of Muscatine, Gary Meyers of Iowa City, Darla Meyer of Muscatine and Kay Terhune and her husband, Albert, of Muscatine and two nephews, Robert and James Jondle. He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Maxine, one step-son, Delbert Meyer and five brothers, Louis, Clarence, Raymond, Anthony and Benjamin.
