Obituary of Wilma M. Masonholder

Wilma Mearle Masonholder, 86, of Columbus Junction, Iowa, died Thursday, November 10, 2005 at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City. Funeral services for Wilma will be Monday, November 14, 2005 at 10:00 a.m. at the Columbus Junction United Methodist Church. Rev. Cathy Whitlatch will officiate. Casketbearers will be Terry Harris, Tracy Harris, Brad Masonholder, Ross Masonholder, Eric Harris and Ross Schmeiser. Honorary Casketbearers will be Brandon Harris, Dirk Masonholder, Bob Schmeiser and Dylan Masonholder. Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 13th from 4-7:00 p.m. at the Stacy-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services. A memorial has been established for the Columbus Junction United Methodist Church. Burial will be in the Columbus City Cemetery. Following the committal services, a time for food and fellowship will be held at the Columbus Junction United Methodist Church. Online condolences may be left to the family at www.lewisfuneralhomes.com. Wilma Mearle Dicks was born April 25, 1919 in Poweshiek County, Iowa, the daughter of Melvin and Gladys (Chapman) Dicks. On May 15, 1937 Wilma was united in marriage to G. Ross Masonholder in Rock Island, Illinois. She was schooled in What Cheer, IA and Columbus Junction, graduating in 1937. She had worked as a sales clerk at the Ross Dry Goods in Columbus Junction for 7 years and as the bookkeeper at Weber and Huston for 21 years. Wilma was a member of the Columbus Junction United Methodist Church, serving as treasurer of the Methodist Women for a number of years. She will be greatly missed by the members of her family and the community. Wilma is survived by her daughter, Carla Harris and husband, Bob of Columbus Junction; her sons, Ronald Masonholder and wife, Charlotte of Hopewell, IL, Merle Masonholder and wife, Kathy of Fayette, MO and Brian Masonholder and wife, Jill of Columbus Junction; 9 grandchildren, Terry Harris, Tracy Harris, Ross Masonholder, Diane Schmeiser, Rebecca Kohler, Holly Masonholder, Bradley Masonholder, Heidi Masonholder and Jillian Masonholder; and 10 great grandchildren; her sisters, Evelyn Vanselow of Chicago, IL, Betty Knupp of Columbus Junction and Laverta Evans of Columbus City, IA; her brothers; Robert Dicks of Olney, TX and Doran Dicks of Davenport, IA. Wilma was preceded in death by her parents, Melvin and Gladys Dicks; her husband, Ross Masonholder; and her brother, Eugene Dicks.
