Obituary of Mary E. Richard

Mary E. Richard, 48, of Muscatine, formerly of Lone Tree, died Saturday, November 12, 2005 at the unity Hospital in Muscatine following an extended illness. Funeral services for Mary will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, November 16, 2005 at the Sorden-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services in Lone Tree. Burial will be in the Lone Tree Cemetery. Casketbearers will be Bill Schreiber, Jim Schreiber, Tom Schreiber, Phil Green, Doug Green, and Chris Bermel. Honorary Casketbearers will be her grandsons, Matthew Ford, Anthony Hurlbut and Christian Rathje. Following the committal services at the cemetery, a time of food and fellowship will be held at the Lone Tree American Legion. Visitation for Mary will be held on Tuesday, November 15, 2005 from 3:00 P.M. - 8:00 P.M. at the Sorden-Lewis Funeral Home in Lone Tree. Mary Eloise Schreiber was born on August 28, 1957 in Iowa City, Iowa the daughter of Arthur and Velma (Wiese) Schreiber. Mary was a 1975 graduate of Lone Tree High School. On November 6, 1976, Mary was united in marriage to Dean Richard in Lone Tree and later divorced. She was a homemaker. Mary was a past member of the Lone Tree First Responders and attended the St. Mathias Church in Muscatine and the St. Mary�s Catholic Church in Lone Tree. Mary enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, her flowers and sharing time with friends and family, but most of all, Mary dearly loved to be with her grandchildren. Mary will be deeply missed by her three daughters, Christina Hurlbut and her husband, Rick, of Lone Tree, Jen Rathje and her husband, Jon, of Ankeny and Lydia Dittrich and her husband, Dion, of Wayland; three grandchildren, Matthew Ford, Anthony Hurlbut and Christian Rathje; her fianc�, Don Bermel of Muscatine and his son, Chris Bermel of Muscatine; her father, Arthur Schreiber and his wife, Alice of Wapello; mother, Velma Wiese of Lone Tree; three brothers, Jim Schreiber of Lone Tree, Tom Schreiber and his wife, Annette, of Columbus Junction and Bill Schreiber and his wife, Nancy, of Muscatine; four sisters, Becky Green of Lone Tree, Kathy Schreiber-Slycord and her husband, Roger of Muscatine, Pat Sexton and her husband, Jerry, of Lone Tree and Betty Gerot and her husband, Bill of Iowa City and Don�s parents, Paul and Arlene Bermel of Muscatine and many nieces and nephews. Mary was preceded in death by her paternal and maternal grandparents.
