Obituary of Dorothy Young

Dorothy L. Young, 87, residing at Muscatine Care Center, of Muscatine, died Monday, December 5, 2005, at Unity Hospital. Funeral services will be Thursday, December 8, 2005 at 1:30 p.m. at the Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Following the interment, a time of food and fellowship will be held in the Community Room at the Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services. Visitation for Dorothy will be held on Wednesday, December 7, 2005 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Funeral Home. Memorials may be directed to Seventh Day Adventist Community Center in Dorothy�s name. Sympathy notes may be left for the Young family at www.lewisfuneralhomes.com. Dorothy Lucille Rowland was born December 26, 1917 in Moscow, Iowa the daughter of Roy W. and Jennie (Swarms) Rowland. On June 21, 1936 Dorothy was united in marriage to Rex E. Young in Muscatine, Iowa. Dorothy was a life long resident of the Muscatine area. She enjoyed making lap blankets for the nursing homes, quilts and walker bags. Dorothy volunteered at the Seventh Day Adventist Community Center for many years. Dorothy will be deeply missed by her daughter, Joyce A. Moyers and her husband, Kenneth, of Morning Sun, Iowa; her son, Richard W. Young and his wife, Sherry, of Muscatine; one sister, Ethel Trader of Kansas City, Missouri; 8 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and 2 great great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Rex, in June 1987, one daughter, Ruth Goodrick and one brother, Raymond Rowland.
