Obituary of William Koedam

William J. Koedam, age 76, of Midway, Arkansas formerly of Northwest Iowa, died Wednesday, December 14, 2005 at his son�s home in Lone Tree. Memorial services for Bill will be held at 9:30 am on Thursday, December 15, 2005 at the Sorden-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services in Lone Tree. Rev. Jason Pittman of the United Presbyterian Church of Lone Tree will officiate. Honorary Casketbearers will be William�s grandchildren, Angie Miller, Amy Hartman, Sarah Mongar, Aaron Carlson, Jeremy Koedam, Kristen Rolfes, Kelli Rolfes and Korey Rolfes. A memorial has been established for the Iowa City Hospice and the choir fund of the United Presbyterian Church in Bull Shoals, Arkansas. There will also be memorial services in LeMars, Iowa on Monday, December 19th at 10:30am at the Calvin Christian Reform Church. William John Koedam was born on September 8, 1929 in Leota, Minnesota, the son of Jonas and Cornelia (Van Nieuwenhuizen) Koedam. On December 29, 1952 he was united in marriage to Elnora Olivier in Corsica, South Dakota, and they lived in LeMars, Iowa for 30 years. Bill was a US Army veteran serving from 1951-1953. He was a member of the American Legion and the Christian Motorcycle Association. He was a Cadet counselor and a member of the Color and Honor Guard. Bill enjoyed woodworking and bowling and was an all-around handyman. He had worked as a power lineman for Northwest Iowa Power Co-op and also worked for the Bureau of Reclamation. He was a part time electrician, working for the telephone company as well as installing and fixing garage door openers. Bill was a loving husband, father and grandfather. Bill will be deeply missed by his wife, Elnora Koedam of Midway, Arkansas; his daughter, Debbie Seigel and her husband, John of Omaha, NE; his son, Doug Koedam and his wife, Clarine of Lone Tree; his daughter, Donna Rolfes and her husband, Mike of Alton, Iowa; 8 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; his brother, Stanley Koedam and his wife, Janice of Leota, MN; his sister, Annie Bolt of Edgerton, MN; and sister-in-law, Marie Koedam of Luverne, MN. Bill was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Albert; a brother in infancy; a granddaughter, Amy Carlson; and brother-in-law, Rollie Bolt.
