Obituary of Patricia Rae Clark

OVERLAND PARK, Kansas -- Patricia Rae Hopewell Clark, 57, died Tuesday, December 20, 2005, at her home in Overland Park, Kansas, after a courageous battle with cancer. Memorial Service will be 10 a.m. Saturday, December 24, 2005, at the Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home, 1931 Houser Street, Muscatine, Iowa. The Reverend Troy Richmond of the Ss. Mary and Mathias Parish and Reverend Jaye Johnson of Fellowship United Methodist Church will officiate the Celebration of Life Service. Private burial will take place in Muscatine Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Hospice Care of Kansas, 15329 West 95th St., Lenexa, Kansas, 66219. Pat was born on June 30, 1948, in Muscatine, the daughter of Patrick H. and Florine M. James Hopewell. She graduated from Hayes Catholic High School in 1966. Pat was married to Donald Lawrence Clark, Jr. in 1980, in Russellville, Arkansas, and they spent the last 25 years sharing a wonderful life together. Pat enjoyed spending the past eight years working with Eby Realty Group of Olathe, Kansas. She opened the Muscatine Sterling House in 1997, which is now known as Bickford Cottage. She also spent two years serving as the first standing President of the Iowa Health Care Association. In 1999, she became Regional Director of Operations with Eby and in 2003, she was appointed Director of Operations and the family moved to Kansas. Patti, as her friends and family called her, loved the simple things in life. Her favorite place was Zihuatanejo, Mexico, where she traveled with her husband and parents for the last thirteen years. Her favorite things were good music, long drives in the country, campfires, rainy days, Christmas, and enjoying all these with the people she loved. She will be deeply and dearly missed by all who knew her. Survivors include her parents, Pat and Flo Hopewell of Muscatine, her loving husband, Donald L. Clark, Jr. of Overton Park, Kansas; her brother, Robert Hopewell and wife, Tena, of Gordonsville, Virginia; her children, Tammy Becker and husband, Jeff, of Muscatine, Chelli Mattingly and husband, Darrell, of Muscatine, Wendi Layne and husband, Scott, of Wilton, Donald Clark III of Muscatine, Kelly Kerr and husband, Steve, of Overland Park, Kansas, and Amy Snyder and husband, John of Norfolk, Virginia; 10 grandchildren, Ben and Sam Becker, Luke Mattingly, Aaron Layne, Audrey Matthew and Tyler Clark, Micheala and Alexandria Kerr, and Chloe Snyder.
