Obituary of Clarence Brown

Clarence Brown, 87, of Muscatine, died Monday, December 26, 2005, at the VA Hospital in Iowa City. Graveside services will be Thursday, December 29, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. at Muscatine Memorial Park Cemetery. Rev. Dick Nye of Faith United Church of Christ will officiate. Following the interment, a time of food and fellowship will be held at the American Legion. Casketbearers will be Austin Honts, Jacob Holladay, Chad Holladay, Tom Honts, Joseph Elshoff and Vern Allen. Honorary casketbearer will be Damian Klinkenberg. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery with Military Rites by the combined units of the VFW Post #1565 and the American Legion Post #27. Visitation for Clarence will be held on Thursday, December 29, 2005 at 10:00 a.m. at the Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established at the funeral home in Clarence's name. Sympathy notes may be left for the Brown family at www.lewisfuneralhomes.com. Clarence Brown was born June 3, 1918 in Port Louisa, Louisa Township the son of George and Pansy Almandinger Brown. In 1947, he was united in marriage to Nina Lamb in Muscatine. Clarence was employed at the Durant foundry as well as at various construction jobs. He enjoyed being a commercial fisherman, and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Clarence will be deeply missed by his two daughters, Lillian Brown and Tillie Honts both of Muscatine; four grandchildren, Tom Honts of Muscatine, Cindy Honts of Wilton, Heather Brown and Joseph Elshoff both of Muscatine; four great-grandchildren, Austin Honts and his wife, Sara, Jacob Holladay, Chad Holladay and his wife, Nikki and Damian Klinkenberg all of Muscatine; one great-granddaughter Samantha Brown of Muscatine; two brothers, Gerald Brown and his wife Veralee of Muscatine and George Brown and his wife, Erma of Arizona; and one sister, Pearl Beverlin and her husband, Eldon of Muscatine. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Nina; one son-in-law Ronnie Honts; two brothers and two sisters.
