Obituary of Cornelia Hanft

Cornelia Hanft, 91, of Columbus Junction, Iowa, died Thursday, February 2, 2006 at the Washington County Hospital, Washington, Iowa. Graveside services will be Monday, February 6, 2006 at 2:30pm at the Columbus City Cemetery. Rev. Linda Baldwin of the Columbus Junction United Presbyterian Church will officiate. Casketbearers will be Harold Hunter, Dick Pugh, Art Pugh, Larry Prior, Sam Bell and Darin Mapel. Visitation will be Monday, February 6th from 1:00-2:00pm at the Stacy-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services of Columbus Junction. A memorial has been established for the United Presbyterian Church and the Louisa County Responders and Ambulance Service. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.lewisfuneralhomes.com. Cornelia Blanche Peters was born November 17, 1914 in Crawfordsville, Iowa, the daughter of John "Jack� and Alma (Lewis) Peters. On June 10, 1937 Cornelia was united in marriage to Robert Fay Hanft in Burlington, Iowa. Cornelia was a member of the Presbyterian Church and the Care Committee, the Columbia Royal Neighbors of America #537, serving as Past Oracle and the Rebekah Lodge #394, serving as a Past Noble Grand. She had worked as a waitress at the West Side Caf� and the Bryn Mawr Steak House. Cornelia will be dearly missed by her cousin and close friend, Sharon Mapel and her husband, Jerry of Columbus Junction; several special cousins: and special friend, Juanita Hunter and her husband, Harold of Columbus Junction. Cornelia was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and an infant, DeLoise.
