Obituary of Harriet Jane Jones

          Harriet Jones, 85, of Columbus City, passed away on Monday, January 8, 2018 at her home. A memorial service will be held at a later date with burial in Cambrian Cemetery.             Harriet Jane Jones was born on September 26, 1932 on the family farm in Cotter, Iowa, the daughter of David Richard and Mildred Virginia (DeMar) Jones.  Harriet attended schools in Cotter and graduated from the Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls. Harriet traveled the world teaching school to American service men's children on military service bases and also taught schools in various places throughout the United States.  Harriet was always known for her caring and doing for others as very evident in the care she gave to her parents in their later years of life.    She was very faithful in visiting shut-ins and friends at Colonial Manor.  Harriet was an active member of Cotter and Salem Welsh Presbyterian Church. 

            Harriet will be deeply missed by her siblings, Howard (Elsie) Jones of Cotter; William (Margaret) Jones of Boulder, CO and Dorothy (Willard) Sands of Crawfordsville, IA and several nieces and nephews.

            She was preceded in death by her parents.
