Mary and Sam were our neighbors on Indiana Street in the 70s to early 80s. Jody and Missy played with our girls, Sarah and Betsy. Mary was a very good friend and neighbor, sometimes talking over the fence, sometimes visiting at each others house. She was a good cook and we shared recipes. We talked about our childhoods and had lots of good times. I especially remember how easily she laughed about things, even herself. I remember how hard it was for her when Jody died. Always her angel in heaven. After we moved, we could always pick up our friendship whenever we bumped into each other. She loved her family and I can remember hearing she and Sammie laughing so loud and hard over something and then a hug or kiss. Always admired them for that. Please accept my most sincere sympathy, JoLynn Krueger

Some early memories of my sister Mary, She was my oldest sister out of 5 girls, I always heard but don't remember how she was trying to help our Mom as she was dying while giving childbirth. , Mary was only 11 going on 12 she took that very hard and talked to me about rubbing Mom's feet to try to get the circulation going. Mary liked to read we didn't have electricity so no TV or radio. Mary would take us younger ones up the old country road to go what she called book begging from the neighbor's. Mary's favorite magazines as I remember was True story books. In order to get time to do all this reading she would say at times Jean get the house clean because Marie Anna's too little, Martha's too lazy and Roberta's going to cook. Mary was determined to buck our Dad's very strict upbringing she came home one day from school with fingernail polish and our Dad made her scrape it off with his pocket knife as we had nothing like polish or remover. I remember once her getting lipstick rubbed off her lips. This kind of stuff didn't stop Mary from trying to be like others she would take my sister Martha and tell our Dad she was going to walk to church when she was really going to meet some boy. I remember once when we left our little 2 room shack in the country to go to town to my brothers in town and while there some boys came by honking at her and sister Martha, Mary immediately tells Dad she and Martha was going to go to get some gum. (planning to meet these boys). My Dad was too smart for her and said what kind do you want she said Juicy Fruit,-Dad reached in his shirt pocket and said I got some right here., he knew what she was up to. Mary sometimes would think it funny to get her sisters in trouble once when Dad had to leave us overnight at some old Ladies house I remember we were all 5 sleeping in one bed, Mary told me to keep rapping on the headboard until the old lady came in and started screaming at us. Mary just giggled and when she left the room told me to do it again, I did and she came back and slapped me after Mary told her I was doing it. Mary would take us girls to an old creek behind our place, none of us could swim and was warned not to go there without Dad she didn't care she took us anyway. Anyway I have many more fond memories of my sister Mary as we was growing up. Too many to share all. In Loving memory of my sis Mary, from Marie

Marie, I am so sorry to hear about your loss. I will never forget meeting you while you worked at the Chinese restaurant but didn't know much about your family till Donna told me. It is sad that this had to happen, your sister was young and should have had a longer better life.
Take care and remember, I am thinking of you and your family at this sad time. Remember, she is now in a better place and with our Lord.
