Steve, Linda, and families, I was so sorry to read of Bill's death. I was in St. Louis at the time of the funeral. I saw Bill at McDonald's shortly after he had returned from Steve's. We chit-chatted; he seemed in good spirits; but I didn't think his color looked good. Bill and May both enriched our lives. The times on the hill were terrific. They were like grandparents to both Kevin and Steve. Billl's handyman skills helped me MANY, MANY times!!!!!! The best of luck to both of you and your families.

Please accept my sympathy on Bill's death. He was a good man who enjoyed pretending he wasn't. He had no reason to re-wire my attic while Beverly was in the hospital giving birth to Kevin, but when I changed a light bulb and twisted the wires loose, he just did. He had no good reason to climb a ladder and paint the peak of my house when he saw how scared I was of the height, but he did. He had no reason to call Steven to his house for donuts when he saw the four-year old kid sneaking out at 5 a.m., but he did. He had no reason to step in and take Kevin to Cub Scouts and supervise his projects while I was gone, but he did. He and May made the world a better place over and over again. He made goodness a habit. He enriched my life, and I am glad I knew him.

Linda, Steve and families; We are so sorry to hear of the passing of your father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Recently, I was going through Moms photo albums and found several albums of the times the Fox had with the Muscatine Gang as she called it. Those photos conjured up quite a few memories for me. The times our family spent with the Dursts, Gows and Coder families are some of the finest memories of my youth. Those memories wont be taken away by anyone or anything. Your parents were awesome people and will always be remembered by us. Sincerely, Tom and Judy Fox

Dear Durst Family, I'm so sorry to hear of your loss. Mae and Bill were a big part of my growing up years. They were such wonderful friends to my Mom and Dad, Foxy and Arleen. I have many happy memories of Bill. He had such a great sense of humor and it was always fun to get together with them. The silly games we all played with adults and kids -- the rhythm game and other games that adults played with us kids. In those days, parents included us in the fun! I pray you will be comforted. Bill left me with many wonderful memories. With love. Sandy Fox Cryder

We will remember the fun get-togethers we had in the Dursts garage and had fun talking about fishing. They were great neighbors and will be sadly missed .

Dear Family of Bill Durst, I wish to offer my condolences at this sad time on the passing of Bill. I thought he was quite a man. I enjoyed his sense of humor and his stories. One in particular was when he was talking about the wooden boats he had made. He and his son were out at Weed Park lagoon and a boat got away from the shore so Bill waded in after it. May God bless you all at this time. I also enjoyed talking with May. I was at Wesley UMC from 1999 - 2005. I also enjoyed meeting Linda when she visited. God Bless Pastor Paul Rekward

To the family of Bill & May We are saddened by the news that Bill had passed away. It was several months after May passed away that we found out about her passing. We were saddened by that event, also. We met the Durst family when we moved to Muscatine in 1951 and started attending the Methodist Church there. We last saw Bill and May in Muscatine in 2002 and had a nice visit with them. We will miss our correspondence, especially at Christmas. Steve and Linda, you probably won't remember us but I'll bet there is a picture or two of us in your mother's albums. Please accept our condolenses. Harold & Carol Miller
