I'm so sorry for your loss, we will never understand why some are taken early only GOD knows why. Just remember he will always be with you and your family in sperit. I know he would want you to be strong for him and finish what he could not finish here on earth. Today he is working on a new mission for all of us so when you do connect with your brother again he will have new things to show you. His love for you will never fade and his sperit will always be with you. Your friend Connie

My prayers and thoughts go out to the family. Gary's brother (Steve) and I were in school together, and remember many things about him. I remember working with Dues at Curtis, playing basketball together when growing up, and many other times just seeing him and saying "HI". He will always be missed, and never forgotten. My prayers are with you all in this hardship of time. Levi Schmidt

I will never forget going out to Vicki and Glenn's for a huge fish fry. Steve and Gary had caught about a million or so catfish. I was pregnant at the time and my husband, Jim, was out of town. Gary stood over the hot grease for a couple hours, cooking fish for lots of hungry people. He told Vicki he wanted to give her a break from cooking and she really appreciated it. That's the kind of guy he was.

My thoughts are with you. I just wanted to let you know that Gary was a great friend and an even better person. We shared some fun times playing softball and basketball over at Sloan's or arguing about who was better the Bears or the Rams and Cubs and the Cards. Gary and I rented a house for a year, and you get to know someone pretty well during that time. He's the only guy I know that could sit down to a quart of cottage cheese and a bag of Dorittos at 7:00 AM after we would get home from third shift. I have a lot of great memories from those days. I wish we had kept in touch. I haven't seen his brothers and sisters in a while and want to say "hi" to Dean, Melissa and Paula. my condolences Matt Bartenhagen

Most friendships come and go in life. With Gary, once a friend always a friend. You always knew he had your back. When I visited Muscatine he was one of the few people I made a point to look up at chat with. He was a good guy and he will be missed by all.

I just wanted to say how truly sorry I am about your loss. Gary was one of the nicest men I've been had the privilege of knowing. He had a heart of gold. This was evident by the way he treated Hannah and Emily as if they were his own kids. I know my family loved him (Melissa is my cousin). He will definitely be missed. Anyway, I wanted to send you all a note and let you know that you are in my thoughts. Take care and God Bless.
